Events are FREE and open to everyone (however, donations very welcome. Suggested donation for each event is the price of a pint of beer!). Every morning – commute from Owen's Park to University with a qualified cycling instructor. Meet other cyclists and get cycle confidence tips!!
  • Monday 5th
    5pm Meet on the steps outside Manchester University Students Union. Bike Tour of MCR – Finding bike shops, off road routes, important landmarks and a nice pub (aimed at freshers but everyone welcome!)

  • Tuesday 6th
    6pm outside Central Library. MCR Bike History Tour – A cycling tour looking at the history of MCR. This month is GREEN SPACES. Includes speakers at various place from different campaign groups, long standing local residents tell stories of change, development and success stories plus local historians.

     
  • Wednesday 7th
    12 noon Cycle Confidence classes (email to reserve a place)
    5-6pm Velodrome Taster (places are very limited, book asap to avoid disappointment)
    7pm Bike Art workshop (email to reserve a place)
    including banner making, subvertising, sculpture
    the Boathouse at Platt Fields Park (opposite Owen's Park Campus), Manchester

     
  • Thursday 8th
    6pm Platt Fields Park if wet, Whitworth park if dry. Bike Polo. Whether you're a beginner or a veteran, come along and play. We have mallets or bring your own.

Werneth Low/Marple – 35 miles. If you want to enjoy a gentle bike ride where somebody else worries about the navigating, then why not join The Chorlton Wanderers for leisurely, social rides through the quieter roads of (mainly) Cheshire. We stop at a pub for lunch and then make our way back to Chorlton Water Park Meet 10am at Chorlton Water Park car park at the bottom of Maitland Rd, off Barlow Moor Rd. Bring a puncture kit and pump, waterproofs and money for the pub. No unaccompanied children. (Under 18)
Sun 11th British Heart Foundation Roses Lancaster-York Ride British Heart Foundation Dark Peak Mountain Bike Challenge
NOTE: All 3 routes start finish in the same place - Edale.
  1. (approx 15 miles) A great introduction to the Dark Peaks, It may not be very long ride, but it'll still provide an extreme challenge and some wonderful views
  2. (approx 28 miles) This route follows some classic trails and is a great ride for riders. It'll also give a taste of some of the more technical riding to be found in the Dark Peak
  3. (approx 42 miles) This route give you big hills and extremely technical trails, including the tough classics! This route should only be undertaken by expert riders who are very fit and skilful (and get up early) as the distance, climbing and difficulty of the terrain is extremely demanding. Conquer this and youll have earned Elite status

Sun 1st British Heart Foundation British Heart Foundation Robin Hood Bike Ride
Explore the stomping ground of one of Britain's best loved legends with a 36 mile Mountain Bike Challenge or 6 mile Family Fun scramble through Sherwood Pines and Sherwood Forest. Complete as many 6 mile circular scrambles as you can manage, or push yourself to the limit as you negotiate the 36 mile route through the stunning Autumnal woodland of Clumber Park.
